Japanese Shipwreck Snorkelling

Located at the beach immediately neighboring our property, a small Japanese shipwreck sits just 10 meters from the shore. The site is known for its established coral growth and is a reliable spot to see schools of glassfish.

Guests can reach the beach via a 10-minute walk, or visit the site by Jukung as part of a coastal snorkeling tour. Snorkel gear is available for rent at our reception; please inquire with our staff for more details or to arrange a boat.

Tirta Gangga, Jalan Raya Abang Desa Adat Jalan Raya Tirta Gangga, Ababi, Karangasem Regency, Bali, Indonesia

Tirta Gangga Water Palace

Named for the sacred River Ganges, Tirta Gangga translates to "Blessed Water from the Ganges," and the site remains a place of local reverence. This former royal retreat is a labyrinth of tiered fountains, ornate stone carvings, and koi ponds set against lush garden backdrops.

Beyond the iconic stepping stones, the palace features public pools where you can dive into incredibly cold, refreshing spring water. It’s a fantastic way to cool off after exploring the grounds. If you want to spend the afternoon swimming in the royal springs, our reception can get a driver sorted for you!

Liberty Wreck Dive, Jalan Kubu, Tulamben, Karangasem Regency, Bali, Indonesia

USAT Liberty Wreck

One of Bali’s most famous dive sites, the USAT Liberty lies just off the beach in Tulamben. This 120-meter World War II cargo ship was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine in 1942 and sat on the beach for decades before volcanic tremors from Mt. Agung pushed it into the sea in 1963.

Now resting on a sandy slope between 5 and 30 meters deep, the wreck is a hub for biodiversity. You can see everything from giant barracuda and turtles to pygmy seahorses, all living among the vibrant coral-encrusted steel. Because the highest point of the ship is so close to the surface, it is one of the few places in the world where snorkelers can enjoy a world-class shipwreck as clearly as scuba divers.

LAHANGAN SWEET, Bunutan, Karangasem Regency, Bali, Indonesia

Lahangan Sweet

Perched on a mountain ridge, Lahangan Sweet offers one of the most epic views of Mount Agung you’ll find in Bali. It’s famous for its wooden tree platforms that look straight across the valley toward the volcano, with the coastline visible in the other direction.

It’s an incredible spot for sunrise, but the mountain views are impressive at any time of day. The road up can be a bit of an adventure, so we recommend letting us arrange a local driver to get you there comfortably. Just check in at reception if you want to head up!

Taman Ujung, Tumbu, Karangasem Regency, Bali, Indonesia

Ujung Water Palace

Commonly referred to as Taman Ujung, the name translates to "the palace at the end," reflecting its position on the eastern edge of Bali. This sprawling park combines Balinese, Chinese, and European architecture, featuring expansive pools and historic structures connected by long, elegant bridges.

The site is particularly impressive for its views, where the palace ruins and Mt. Agung provide a dramatic backdrop against the blue of the Lombok Strait. It is a great spot to wander through the gardens or climb the stairs to the higher pillars for a panoramic perspective of the entire estate and the ocean. If you’d like to explore this historic corner of Karangasem, we can easily arrange a car and driver for you.

Virgin Beach, Karangasem, Bali, Jalan Raya Bukit Asah, Adat Bugbug, Karangasem Regency, Bali, Indonesia

White Sand Beach

True to its name, this is one of the few beaches in the area featuring soft white sand and clear emerald waters. It offers a distinct contrast to the volcanic coastline nearby and is a reliable spot for swimming and relaxing.

The beachfront is lined with various local seafood restaurants (warungs) where you can spend the day. These spots serve fresh catch-of-the-day right on the sand, making it easy to settle in for a full afternoon of eating and swimming. It is a short drive from the villas, and our team can arrange transport or provide directions if you prefer to head there for the day.

Indonesia, Bali, Karangasem Regency, Abang, Tri Buana, Lempuyang Temple

Lempuyang Temple

Situated on the slopes of Mount Lempuyang, this is one of Bali’s oldest temple complexes. It is best known for the "Gates of Heaven," which frame Mount Agung in the distance.

The site is a drive from the property and involves various stairs and walking paths. We recommend departing early to best enjoy the morning views and manage potential wait times. Please note that sarongs are required for entry. Our reception can assist with arranging a driver and providing further details on visiting.

Picnic at Black Sand Beach

Take a short trip in a local fishing boat to discover a hidden gem along the coast. The beach is only accessible by sea, making it a quiet place to enjoy a picnic on the striking black volcanic sand. It’s a peaceful way to see the area's natural beauty and get away from the more frequented spots.
